Photography is what got me into filmmaking in the first place. Here are a few collections of photos I've made over the years.

nursery - for more than 30 years, the missouri wildflowers nursery in brazito has been selling a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, grasses and trees native to the state. the nursery's owner, merv wallace, travels around the state collecting seed, while his son marcus helps look after the business.

kate/nate - kate jacobsen and nate compton have been friends since high school. the kansas city natives are now students at the university of missouri, but they still share music, friends, and next year, a home. music isn't the only passion that unites them; they're both avid photographers as well.

burn - on assignment for NPR affiliate KBIA, i went out with officials from the missouri department of conservation, as they carried out a controlled burn over hundreds of acres. the burn was intended to cut back invasive species, and prompt new growth in native plants.

faces - with several prominent colleges, mid-missouri is full of a diverse group of individuals, each with a unique experience. here are portraits of some of those individuals i've had the pleasure of meeting and photographing over the past months.

soccer - it's my favorite sport, although i've found it a lot easier to play than to photograph. this series of pictures was taken one evening at stankowski field, on the university of missouri campus. the men photographed were killing time after their opponents forfeited.
